There are so many at risk youth in Charlotte and the surrounding areas - that there is no way any one organization can do it all for them. Spreading Joy Corporation wants to be one of the groups who care and work to make a difference. I have great hopes and dreams for these children. Here are a few projects I'd love to have YOUR help with. Together we can make a huge difference for these children. The question remains - how are you Spreading Joy? If you are not - here are a few ways to get started Spreading Joy immediately!
Feeding 400-500 children weekly:
One of the things I'd love to do is to be able to feed these children 1 meal each weekend. Especially since many of them only get the free lunch from school. It would be great to have 13 Organizations or families that would commit to feeding these children once a quarter. This commitment would ensure that these children would eat over the weekend for an entire year. They could donate the food or the money to purchase the food - either way, I'd love to see that happen. Even a hot dog meal would be wonderful to these children. What about YOUR organization? Your family? Will you be one of the 13 organizations or families that will help feed these kids?
Christmas in July:
Yes - my goodness I'm already talking about Christmas. That really should NOT come as a surprise to many of you. Spreading Joy Corporation is a small - lesser know Non Profit and going against the Angel Trees and Toys for Tots is hard to do. I know they want to make a difference (and are doing a great job) but so does Spreading Joy Corporation! So, Christmas in July was born. Our goal is to have 30 or so organizations collecting toys, change, books - anything that we can use to wards Christmas Joy 2009. Our goal is to get out as many gifts as possible this year. If your Organization will be willing to collect toys during the month of July - please email me so that I can bring some signs, help get some wrapped boxes and make things easy for you to start collecting gifts. Gifts around the $7-10.00 range will be excellent for these children. If your office is small - maybe you'd be willing to hang a stocking at the front desk with a sign explaining Christmas in July. This is going to give us a WONDERFUL head start to the Christmas Season.
Back to School 2009:
I'm writing several foundations and organizations asking for grants to purchase 1,000 book bags and the supplies needed to fill them. Once I'm awarded some of these grants - I'll be going to area Wal-mart's and/or Target asking for a discount - especially since I'll be purchasing these back to school items in such a large quantity. I'd love to include an entire pack of pencils, pens, erasers, glue, glue stick, hand sanitizer, pack of paper, spiral notebooks, rulers, sharpener, crayons, markers and colored pencils. Anyone have 1,000 of these laying around? Oh - don't forget about the book bags to put all of this in.
As you can see - - these children have a huge place in the heart of Spreading Joy Corporation. I'd love to give them the world - but until then, we'll just keep on giving them what we can.
